Mika Singh stands with Diljit Dosanjh over India’s Got Latent controversy
Mika’s support adds to the growing voices defending the Punjabi superstar. He took to Instagram, where he called Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia’s show ‘wahiyaat’ (nonsense). He also criticised the use of expletives on the show.
Mika Singh stated in the video, “The controversy involving Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia – I’ve seen the episode. It’s extremely distasteful, with bizarre abuse being hurled at mothers and sisters while the audience laughs. I am sure their fans would have enjoyed it.”
“When Diljit or I sing about alcohol, we get slapped with notices immediately. Tum log ko yeh gadhe log nazar nahi aate? Tumhara farz nahi banta? Celebrities aur singers ko fat se notice bhej dete ho toh aap in gadho ko rok nahi sakte? (But these clowns go unnoticed? Isn’t it your duty to stop them?)”, he added.
Mika Singh talked about censorship on digital platforms and also requested young viewers to maintain decorum and promote respectful content.
After making divisive remarks on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent, well-known YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia ended up in legal hot water. Online, Ranveer’s disrespectful inquiry about a contestant’s parents sparked a furore.
In response to the criticism, Ranveer said that his “comedy was not his forte” and expressed regret for his poor decision. Following the filing of a formal complaint against him and the other judges on the show, the episode was removed from YouTube.
